Yes you would need to query against the
db Select email_address, user_name FROM user WHERE email_address='...@...' OR user_name='...'
.

If no results are returned then the user name and email are okay if results are returned look to see if the user name is = to '...' or is it the email or both then you can return the info.

Another thing you see people do is check the user name and email separately. you do this on deselect of the text area they enter the info in and give them live alerts when needed.

Thanks!

I would like to validate fields before inserting into MySql database. Before using INSERT PHP can I use the SELECT PHP to validate fields within AS3? I want to be able to check if a User ID is already registered and / or an Email address already in the database. Would I just compare the flash text entered fields with the What to look for result from the SELECT PHP of the corresponding fields in the MySql database? The User ID would be the same as your Login Example but for a email address I would have to search every record.

Notice: Undefined index: ASCLength in C:\wamp\www\TLC\php\insertDB.php on line 6
insertAction=Complete".

I would simply turn off notices in your php.ini file. Then it will work fine for you.

Instead of php.ini you can add a line of php to your insert.php file here's the info on removing notices

If you have labels on your datagrid you can click them to sort or you can search before you create a data grid.

If you want to make more of a live search on the datagrid the you will need to write some custom sorting of the data provider then reset the data grid on text event.
